Which shops are open during the Coupe Icare on the Plateau des Petites Roches?

Are picnics permitted on Coupe Icare sites?
Picnics are permitted on the both Coupe Icare sites (Saint Hilaire and Lumbin).
Is there easy parking for people with reduced mobility?
People with reduced mobility will find nearby car parks reserved for them at each site.
- In St Hilaire:
- Pré Lacour (near the north take-off point, Icarnaval) – from Tuesday
- Les Gaudes primary school (near the cafeteria and the Icare Expo lounge) – Saturday and Sunday only
- In Lumbin (near the landing area) Saturday and Sunday only:
- GPUB company car park (Longs Près Street)
- ESAT car park (Marais Street)
Which bus should I take if I am in a wheelchair?
- Lines C11 and 80 from Grenoble are accessible to wheelchairs and to people with reduced mobility.
- The free orange shuttle buses between the Grésivaudan Valley park-and-ride car parks and the Lumbin landing site are also accessible.
- Please note: the shuttle buses providing transport to the St Hilaire take-off points are not equipped to accommodate wheelchair users.
Recommendation from the organisers
The Coupe Icare takes place on varied natural terrain: coming with someone to accompany you is a real advantage if you are in a wheelchair.
Where to park your motorhome or van?
We recommend that you arrive early in the week to find a parking space.
There are no reservations at the Coupe Icare car parks.
Contact the campsites for their conditions.
– in St Hilaire :
- Plateau des Petites Roches campsite (close to the free purple shuttle bus that runs from Thursday to Sunday)
- Small dedicated motorhome parks (ski resort, hang-gliding jump)
- Les Dioux long-stay car & van park (open until 7pm on Friday) – Please note that this car park is located in fields and the ground may become wet.
– in Lumbin :
- Camping du Lac de La Terrasse (+ free orange shuttle bus operating on Saturdays and Sundays)
- Dedicated motorhome park at Monfort (close to the landing area)
Where to park your motorbike?
Coming by motorbike? A dedicated parking area awaits you at each site:
- In St Hilaire:
- At the roundabout by the garage (Chambéry side) with helmet storage 2€ – from Tuesday onwards.
- At the St Hilaire nursery (Les Margains) – Saturdays and Sundays only.
- In Lumbin (near the landing area): Chemin de Pré Guillerme, access via Rue du Marais – Saturdays and Sundays.

Is it possible to fly as an independent pilot during the Coupe Icare?
- Yes, you can fly paragliders, hang gliders and paramotors, at your own risk, provided you comply with the Coupe Icare flight rules: take-off opening/closing times, compulsory pre-registration for certain slots (until 13/09/2025 at 11:59 p.m.).
Please note: there will be many people in the air, so be careful and do not fly above your usual level.
- If you are a beginner pilot, this is not the time to fly. No supervision is provided by the event organisers.
Instead, take advantage of the event to talk to other pilots and familiarise yourself with the world of free flight.
About take-off from Dent de Crolles
Dent de Crolles is included in the airspace of the 52nd Coupe Icare. Take-off will be regulated from Thursday to Sunday.
Take-off closure:
- Thursday from 3.30pm to 6.30pm
- Friday from 1pm to 6.30pm
- Saturday and Sunday from sunrise until 6pm. Only pilots registered for the Walk & Fly event will be authorised to take off from the summit.
Compliance with these closure times is essential to the smooth running of the Coupe Icare. Any violation jeopardises the event and its relationship with the aviation authorities. A ‘guard’ will be present at the Dent de Crolles to remind pilots of these times.
What is the name of the flying carnival of the Coupe Icare?
Icarnaval!
Do I need a ticket to attend Icarnaval on Saturday or Sunday?
- YES for take-offs at St Hilaire, for ages 12 and up: ticket office
- and NO for landings at Lumbin: it’s free for everyone!
What time does Icarnaval start?
- From 11 a.m. at the northern take-off point in St Hilaire and at the landing site in Lumbin.
- Costumed flights end at 4 p.m. at the latest to make way for aerial demonstrations.
This programme is subject to change, particularly depending on weather and flying conditions.
Is it possible to schedule a first flight during the Coupe Icare?
This is not possible at weekends:
- all the site’s professionals are involved in ensuring the safety of the take-off and landing areas.
- the sky is reserved for aerial demonstrations declared to the authorities as part of the event.
During the week: contact the paragliding schools on site to find out about their availability.
First hot air balloon flight
No flights for the general public.

The electric vehicle charging station in St Hilaire is UNAVAILABLE during the Coupe Icare
The electric vehicle charging station, located at 10 route des 3 Villages (place des Fontenettes) in St Hilaire, will be unavailable for the duration of the Coupe Icare, until the marquees have been dismantled (scheduled for around 8–9 October).
Flying drones is prohibited during the Coupe Icare.
The aviation authorities present on site may issue fines to offenders.
Are dogs permitted on Coupe Icare sites?
- Yes, dogs on leashes are allowed at both Coupe Icare sites (Saint Hilaire and Lumbin).
- Dogs are accepted on buses under the following conditions:
- small dogs must be carried by the person transporting them,
- large dogs are tolerated; they must be muzzled and kept on a leash,
- dogs belonging to blind, visually impaired or disabled people accompanying their owners are also allowed to travel with them.
Are pushchairs allowed on Coupe Icare shuttles?
Yes.
- Lines 80 and C11 from Grenoble, and orange shuttle bus to the valley’s park-and-ride facilities: low-floor buses, pushchairs can be taken on board.
- Green, pink and purple shuttle buses (to the St Hilaire site): pushchairs must be folded and stored in the luggage compartment.
Is it possible to camp in a tent at the Coupe Icare?
– In St Hilaire:
- Camping du Plateau des Petites Roches (close to the Margains shuttle bus, free, until 1.30pm on Saturday and 5pm on Sunday)
- Les Dioux long-stay car park (accessible until 7pm on Friday) – Please note that this car park is located in fields, which may become wet.
- Public showers (€2) near the roundabout by the garage (St Hilaire) – Thursday to Sunday, 7am-11am and 5pm-8pm / Monday 7am-10am
– in Lumbin :
- Camping du Lac de La Terrasse (+ free orange shuttle bus operating on Saturdays and Sundays)
Are bicycles allowed on the Coupe Icare shuttles?
- Folding bicycles in the luggage compartment of purple, pink and green shuttle buses
- Bicycle racks behind buses on line C11 (Voiron – Grenoble – Lumbin)
Is there parking for bicycles?
Yes. Don’t forget to take a lock.
– In St Hilaire: in front of the ATC bicycle shop – 100 spaces
