Mobility and Transport

The Coupe Icare and SMMAG offer several ways to get around during the event, detailed on mobilites-m.fr 
The M réso network is adapting its services to provide optimal coverage for the Coupe Icare.

Getting to Coupe Icare:

By shuttle : Free

  • From the St Hilaire park-and-rides, take the blue shuttles to the take-off area.
  • From the St Bernard park-and-rides, take the blue shuttles to the take-off area.
  • From the valley park-and-rides, take the orange shuttles to the landing area.
By M réso bus: M réso fares apply

  • The pink line connects the La Terrasse park-and-ride to the take-off area. €1 one way.
  • The green line connects the landing area to the take-off area. It operates Tuesday to Sunday, with evening services on Friday and Saturday. €1 one way.
  • Regular line 80: departures from Grenoble extended to Lumbin on Saturday and Sunday. €2 one way.
  • Regular line 85: departures from La Tronche, passing through St-Nazaire-les-Eymes towards the Plateau des Petites Roches.
    Please note: The line is operated with a smaller vehicle:
    -Seating capacity is limited
    -Stops from Col de Marcieu to Les Gaudes are not served
  • Regular line C11: departures from Grenoble terminating at Lumbin. €2 one way.

To save time and make your day easier:

  • Download the M app now to buy your ticket!
  • At ticket vending machines across the network (main Chrono stops and tram stations)
  • By SMS to 93 123: “1h” for 1 hour, “1J” for 1 day, and “1G” for 1 hour of travel within Grésivaudan.
  • By visiting a ticket office to buy single tickets.
  • A mobile M réso agency will be available in Lumbin to buy your ticket.

Good to know: for Heritage Days, buses are free on Sunday! 

By Train :

  • From Valence, Lyon, or Clelles, take line C11 with a connection at Grenoble station.
  • All Grenoble–Chambéry regional trains (TER) will stop at Brignoud station on Saturday and Sunday.

By bike :

  • Lumbin site: parking is located at the start of Chemin du Ruisseau de Montfort and at the GPub parking lot for e-bikes.
  • St-Hilaire site: parking in the lot in front of the ATV Cycles shop at the garage roundabout, Saturday and Sunday.

Remember to bring a lock to secure your bike!

By carpooling:

  • M covoit’ Lignes+ : shared ride on a set route. Drivers are compensated, free for passengers. Info on Lignesplus
  • M covoit’ Loisirs : offer or find a seat for free on mcovoit-loisirs

Private vehicles

St Hilaire

  • The Route des Trois Villages is closed in the village center (between the garage roundabout and the fire station roundabout) on Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

On-site parking: Free

Please clear the parking lots by Monday, September 21, to allow agricultural activities to resume.

  • Park-and-rides P1 and P2: accessible from Tuesday

    Please note: Parking P1 —
    a portion of the upper section will be closed and cordoned off on Tuesday and Wednesday inclusive. Note: exiting the parking lots may be difficult in case of rain.
    Blue shuttle –  St Hilaire – Continuous service from Thursday to Saturday. Sunday: specific timetable.
  • Long-stay parking P3: use this parking lot starting Tuesday!
    Note: access closed from Friday at 7 p.m.
  • Parking lots P4 and P5: accessible from Tuesday.
    Note: on Saturday and Sunday, parking lots accessible only from Le Touvet.
    Note: exiting the parking lot may be difficult in case of rain.
  • Park-and-ride P6 in St Bernard: accessible from Le Touvet – Blue shuttle “St Bernard Eglise” continuous service on Saturday and Sunday only.
    Note: on Saturday and Sunday, parking accessible only from Le Touvet.
  • Motorcycle parking:
    – At the garage roundabout (Chambéry side) with helmet storage — from Tuesday
    – At the St Hilaire daycare center (Les Margains) — Saturday and Sunday only
  • Disabled access parking (PMR):
    – Pré Lacour (near North take-off site) — from Tuesday.
    – Les Gaudes primary school (near the cafeteria and Icare Expo hall) — Saturday and Sunday only
  • Campervans: :P1, P2, and P5 parking lots. No booking required.
    Note: exiting the parking lot may be difficult in case of rain.
  • Bikes :parking in front of the ATV Cycles shop at the garage roundabout, Saturday and Sunday.
    Remember to bring a lock to secure your bike! 

Electric vehicles

The EV charging station located on Place des Fontenettes in St Hilaire is unavailable for the entire duration of Coupe Icare, until the end of the tent dismantling (scheduled around October 8–9).

Road info — St Hilaire weekend

Use public transport for day visits, especially over the weekend.

  • The Route des Trois Villages is closed in the village center (between the garage roundabout and the fire station roundabout) from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • We recommend accessing via Saint-Nazaire-les-Eymes. Parking lots accessible from Le Touvet fill up quickly, and traffic filtering may be enforced by the police.
  • Please note: on the Chambéry side, a one-way traffic system is in place:
    • Uphill to the Plateau des Petites Roches via the RD29 from Le Touvet
    • Downhill via the RD30 towards La Terrasse.

The parking lot next to the landing site is unavailable starting Monday, September 14.

    – Signposted “Icaravélo” routes starting from Grenoble, Gières, Brignoud, Saint-Ismier, and Le Touvet.
    – Bike parking on Chemin du Ruisseau de Montfort (North side).
    – E-bike parking at the G’Pub company.

Use public transport for day visits, especially over the weekend.

  • All access roads to the site are closed from Friday morning at 9 a.m: Route de la Plaine, Chemin Pré Guillerme, and Chemin des Longs Prés closed from 2 p.m.
  • Chemin du Marais remains open, with traffic filtering enforced starting Saturday at 9 a.m.
