Please note
To fly during the Coupe Icare, you must have Third-Party Air Insurance that covers you for a minimum of 1 million euros (€1,000,000).
Examples of accepted insurance providers: FFVL, FFPLUM, Federación Aérea Madrileña, Federacio Aero Catalana, Federacio Baleares, SHV, FSVL, AIF, Versicherungen Makelburo Thomas Schaub, FIVL, Hungary FFA, NZHGPA, HACP, ACVL, Planeta Volo
Not valid: Home, Car, Travel, or Health insurance, as well as any insurance policy providing less than 1 million euros in coverage.

Pilots Information
Geronimo Marquee
The main meeting point for Icarnaval pilots for confir your registration, put the finishing touches on one's costume and get together in a friendly atmosphere!
Open :
Thursday 2-6 PM
Friday & Saturday 9 AM-7 PM
Sunday 9AM-1PM
The marquee is guarded from Thursday through Sunday nights

Registration confirmation
Come to Geronimo marquee Thursday or Friday to collect your wristband and your priority shuttle pass.
Only one person may collect passes for groups.
To go to the movies Tuesday or Wednesday, you can pick up your wristband at the Icare Test booth on the south takeoff (to add paid movie screenings).
If you can't arrive before Saturday, come between 9 and 10 AM.
Tools available
Everything you need to finish your costume on-site: spray paint, duct tape, drills, power screwdrivers, utility knives, staplers, saws, a stepladder...
Plus tarps to keep your beautiful costume dry under the marquee while you wait for it to take flight!
There are 2 stands available to help you balance your costume.
Pilots Comfort

- Car access on Thursday and Friday
- Drop-off zone before 9 a.m. and after 7 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
Makeup area
On Saturday and Sunday mornings, two volunteers will be on hand to apply your makeup before the briefing (9–10 AM).
Shuttles
Priority passes for the shuttle buses on Saturday and Sunday.
Two flatbed trucks to transport bulky costumes.

Rules
Responsability
- Each pilot is fully responsible for their decisions, their equipment, their qualifications and flying skills, the safe operation of their aircraft.
- All participants must hold a valid third party air insurance, a Tandem Qualification certificate (if applicable).
- Pilots must comply with airspace regulations, the Flight Operations Department’s instructions, event schedules, safety instructions and mandatory pilot briefings.
- Any violation can result in immediate disqualification.
- Pilots remain free to withdraw from the event at any time and waive any claims against the organizers.
Security
The Flight Director and the Icarnaval Activities Manager may prohibit or suspend a takeoff for safety reasons.
Failure to comply with the rules, flying over the public or restricted areas = immediate disqualification.
Helmets and reserve parachutes are mandatory (must be integrated into the costume).
Certification required for tandem flights.
VHF radio required on safety frequency provided at the briefing (emergencies only). The 144-146 MHz band must be kept clear.
Maximum of 2 people under one wing
Disabled pilots welcome. Disabled passengers accepted with prior approval from Flight Operations
Dogs allowed in flight according to FFVL regulations (One dog maximum, within certified weight limits)
Riser extensions limited to 3 metres.
Each pilot agrees to test their costume in flight (or at the training slope). The Flight Direction may request a specific test or review for bulky, rolling, or motorized costumes.
Takeoffs
The organization may assign takeoff priorities when necessary.
Pilots must be ready to launch when conditions become suitable.
A pilot may be asked to take off immediately, even if the rest of their group is not yet ready.
Teams are positioned by official launch assistants.
Takeoffs are coordinated according to safety, event flow , weather conditions & aerological conditions.
Each team receives an official numbered bib.
The number must remain clearly visible on the front-right side of the costume for judging purposes.
Landings
Only pilots wearing a numbered bib will be allowed to land as part of the competition.
Please respect landing pattern, final approach corridor, official instructions.
After landing, clear the landing area promptly and pack your wing as quickly as possible.
Move to the gravel gathering area to meet your team.
Showtime
Bring the show to life!
Teams are encouraged to prepare performances, music, choreography...
Both takeoff and landing performances are welcome.

Choregraphies / animations :
Recommended performance length:
Short Version (Under 30 seconds) for changing weather conditions and busy launch periods.
Extended Version (Under 2 minutes) for quieter periods during the event.
Everyone on the takeoff with the cast is dressed up in costumes based on the show's theme.
Safety and launch operations always take priority : Performances must never delay takeoffs, block the launch area, interfere with safety operations, distract launch officials.
Pilots must remain ready for immediate takeoff whenever conditions allow.
Judging and awards
👨⚖️ The jury meets after Saturday's flights.
🏆 Award ceremony Sunday at Takeoff.
All pilots are encouraged to fly again on Sunday to help create an unforgettable show for the public.😊

- 🛡️ Safety = top priority (reliability, durability, lightness, maneuverability, aerodynamic performance).
🎭 Humor and a DIY spirit are encouraged… but never at the expense of safety.
- 🎨 Artistic (humor, originality, elegance, poetry, aesthetic appeal of the costume).
- 🪂 Technical & athletic (innovation, technical mastery, driving skill, controlled daring).
- 🎬 Staging (Short, fluid musical or choreographed performances that prioritize safety are highly valued).
🚫 Prohibited themes
Political, religious, controversial or activist messages and characters are not permitted.
