Icare Finesse
The finesse competition is stepping up a gear and becoming Icare Finesse!
Head to the training slope from Friday onwards, where professional and amateur pilots of all ages compete in a friendly and fun atmosphere.
How do you learn to fly? It’s simple: you start by practising and having fun on the training slope! After just a few days of training, you’ll be ready to take your first flight.
The gliding competition is the culmination of this fun take-off training.
Friendly paragliding competition
Friday and Saturday from 3pm to 5pm
Free registration on site with the Parateam – Lots of prizes to be won
Meet at the training slope at the tourist office (behind the Icare Expo show).
The aim is to fly as far as possible. As soon as both feet leave the ground, the distance is measured to the point where the pilot touches the ground.
You don’t have to be a world champion to take part in the gliding competition and have fun. But if you want to be among the best, that’s another story!
Whether you’re there to compete for the title, have fun or put on a show, the Parateam club looks forward to seeing you at Icare Finesse!

Refreshments
No refreshments are provided by the organisers. It is essential to bring water and food in quantities appropriate to the chosen route and the temperature on the day.
Mandatory equipment
A wing in good flying condition, serviced in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations, a reserve parachute for tandem flights, a helmet.
A working radio, tuned to the FFVL safety frequency: 143.9875MHz.
A few recommendations
- Walking uphill: stay together while walking, with a member of the organisation in each group. (This is to avoid the risk of getting lost and to ensure that no one is left behind in a state of exhaustion.)
- Respect the regulations of the Chartreuse Regional Nature Park: stay on the marked trails. Do not trample on fragile endemic plants growing in scree areas. Do not approach animals or nests in the cliffs. Take all your rubbish back down to the valley and dispose of it in the appropriate bins.
- Take-off: take-off from the top of the Dent de Crolles, between 9am and 1pm depending on local weather conditions. Please note that this is a high mountain take-off, which can be dangerous in strong winds. Each pilot takes off at their own risk. Know when to give up if in doubt. The organisers reserve the right to prohibit take-off if they consider the conditions to be too dangerous.
Stickers will be distributed to participants in the Walk and Fly at the Dent activity to help identify them and supervise the hikes: we ask all participants to play along and place this sticker on their rucksack for the duration of the activity. - Flight: Take-off is from the ZRT set up for the Coupe Icare. You must leave the ZRT as quickly as possible, heading towards Grenoble, and not return to the ZRT. Once you are on the Bec Charvet side, you are free to fly.
- Landing: Landing takes place in Saint Nazaire, in a temporary field marked by a white strip running its length. It is located on the other side of the road from the FFVL landing site.
Commitment
- The pilot undertakes to choose a route suited to their physical condition, to comply with the rules of the Chartreuse Regional Nature Park (stay on marked trails, preserve flora and fauna), and to make a simple flight from Dent de Crolles to the St Nazaire les Eymes landing field.
- All safety rules must be observed (rules of the air, safety margins, priorities, approach circuit).
- Aerobatic manoeuvres are prohibited. Pilots must comply with the manufacturer’s recommendations for their equipment and must not leave the flight area.
- By registering for this hike with descent from the Dent de Crolles, pilots agree to comply with these rules and the instructions of the Flight Director (FD).
- Pilots who do not comply with these rules will be excluded from the event.
