Info and Safety guidelines for pilots

If you’re a recreational pilot and would like to fly during the Cup:

Starting Tuesday, volunteers will be on the fields to offer advice.

Starting Thursday, the takeoff briefing is mandatory and grants you permission to fly upon receiving a sticker to place on your helmet.

Please follow the guidelines, as there will be many of us in the air and we may sometimes be excited and/or stressed by the event.

A few safety reminders:
Compliance with the flight zones and schedules established by the event organizers and flight control is mandatory.

All rules of the air, including flight priorities, apply throughout the event.

Flying over spectators, takeoff areas, and populated areas is prohibited.
Refer to the map for takeoff areas.

No landings are permitted outside of officially designated and open landing areas.

It is your responsibility to have a radio tuned to the safety frequency to stay informed of any emergency response operations and to notify flight control in case of a problem.

Carrying a rescue parachute is strongly recommended for solo pilots on recreational flights; it is mandatory for Icare Test flights, tandem flights, and for all pilots registered to participate in the air show.

In the event of an emergency response, follow the instructions given over the radio and move away from the area to facilitate the teams’ work as much as possible.

You are a demonstration pilot registered for the Coupe Icare air show or an Icare Test pilot:

Your participation has been approved by your activity coordinator, who will conduct a specific briefing. This briefing is mandatory and will detail the rules governing the demonstration of your discipline.
In addition to the rules listed above, which remain in effect, your status as a demonstration pilot entails specific safety information:

During this weekend, you are considered a demonstration pilot because you are performing a flight at an air show for the public.

Your decision-making is affected by the unique environment of a public demonstration. You must fly below your usual level of proficiency and practice.

You must strictly adhere to your flight zone, as specified in the briefing and on the maps, and must not fly over the audience.

You must strictly adhere to the flight schedule set by your activity supervisor.

You are responsible for your equipment, ensuring it is suitable for the demonstration you are performing and complies with applicable regulations.

For each activity, a mandatory briefing will be held, with attendance required. We will cover, in particular, the weather, the flight zone, the schedule, and authorized landing sites.

Until the very last moment, flight control reserves the right to authorize or deny each takeoff.

As the pilot in command, in addition to the authorizations granted by flight operations, you are responsible for assessing the terrain and aerological conditions, and you retain the final decision-making authority regarding your takeoff and flight plan to ensure your safety.
